The honeybush, like the red bush, was discovered in South Africa in the 18th century. The shrub got its name from its very characteristic appearance with yellow, bright flowers that smell of honey . The wild growth only thrives on the small mountain ranges in the so-called Longkloof district. Rediscovered in the 1990s, the honeybush is now grown commercially in 35 different locations. The wild plants are thus protected as much as possible. When brewed, it smells and tastes pleasantly sweet and aromatic .
